Welcome!
My name is Asa and I am a 49-year-old wife, mom, newbie blogger, non-toxic living enthusiast, and pro-age advocate. I love coffee, wine, naps, and southern comfort food.
I made the decision to go gray at 40 when diagnosed with an aggressive autoimmune disease, which also prompted a complete lifestyle overhaul.
This led to an immediate focus on eating unprocessed foods, ditching plastics, and switching non-toxic household cleaning products, but I didn’t make a change in my makeup or personal care products until two years ago because I didn’t know any better. Most people don’t. You can read about my switch to safer skincare here.
Researching safer choices led to some horrifying realizations.
The beauty market is flooded with products filled with dangerous ingredients, and unfortunately, many of the products marketed for mature skin are among the most toxic. It doesn’t have to be this way.
Safe and effective can be compatible terms and I firmly believe aging gracefully is possible without compromising our health.
I will share all I have learned, my product recommendations, and tips I have gathered along the way. Sharing about all things midlife, specifically beauty and wellness, and connecting with followers here and on my Instagram account is my true passion.
I’m pretty laid back so I usually carry on with minimal makeup and natural curls, but sometimes I like to glam it up a bit with my look: a pop of color from a bright lipstick can be enough to change my whole outlook.
THE GAL BEHIND THE BLOG
The best definition for me? Late bloomer. After floundering around in college for what seemed like forever (probably longer if you ask my dad) eventually obtaining a culinary degree, an English degree, and an MS in education, I finally felt like a grown-up. Well, for the most part. I started my career late, found and married the love of my life later in life than most, and had our beautiful daughter at, “an advanced maternal age” (their words, not mine).
Blessed is also a word I use to describe my life despite (or in spite of) my rheumatoid arthritis. I am married to my best friend, have an amazing daughter and two Siberian cats named Tater and Luna.
I hope you will enjoy my posts and look forward to connecting with you soon!
xx,
Asa
